I was obsessed with Elizabeth, "the virgin queen" a few years ago, and decided to paint her portrait. Well, it turned out really cool, and kinda creepy because it sorta looked like me (which everyone loved to point out to me!) My friend Erin bought the painting for her partner, Wendy, as a birthday gift. I shipped it to California where it hung in Wendy's office. Eventually Erin and Wendy decided to move back to Massachusetts. They shipped the painting (and their other belongings)to Erin's parents house in Connecticut where it would be stored until Erin and Wendy could get it.
Well, here is where the story gets sad. Erin had told her mom to "do whatever with her stuff, put it in the basement". Well, Erin's mom is a school teacher, and she took the "do whatever with it literally" and found a new use for fine art. She cut the face out of the painting, and took pictures of her students with their faces in the painting. Erin was horrified, Wendy was pissed, and i just had to laugh.
Now don't get me wrong, i do think it's terrible that elizabeth ended up getting beheaded, but it's pretty damn funny! That makes the second piece of art of mine that has had an unhappy accident. (The first being a piece i did for the musician, Shane Gamble, well,... his tour bus ran over the thing i made for him!)
So, here it is! The only photo i own of the painting. You'll have to excuse the quality. I had to scan it in from an old computer print out.
